Jason Trebs Pottery Jason Trebs

My pots are functional.  The vases all hold flowers and the trays are intended for serving food on your table with family and friends.  What I am hoping for in the making process is for something to occur that sets a pot apart from the ones that were made before and after it.   I think this happens more as a result of enthusiasm and intuition than intentional design.  I know what a pot’s shape, size, and intended use will be, but once the making process begins there are many subconscious, quickly made decisions that create possibilities for direction.  It’s not a thought out process but more of a gut reaction.  I am attracted to this process of planning and then making departures.  The end result is hopefully a pot that speaks as it occupies space and serves it purpose well.
